6/28.2004 - Alyssa G. Martin Named “2004 Young CPA of the Year’’
DALLAS, Texas – Alyssa G. Martin, a partner at Weaver and Tidwell, LLP, has been named “2004 Young CPA of the Year’’ by Dallas CPA Society. With offices in Dallas and Fort Worth, Weaver and Tidwell is ranked by Practical Accountant as the largest regional public accounting firm in the Southwest.
Martin, who earned a bachelor’s of business degree and MBA from the University of Texas at Dallas, has been with Weaver and Tidwell six years. In 2003, she was named partner in charge of the firm’s Risk Assessment and Sarbanes-Oxley Solutions group.
“We’re excited Alyssa won our award because she is very deserving,’’ said Margaret Campbell, executive director of Dallas CPA Society. “Along with distinguishing herself professionally, Alyssa has done an excellent job chairing some of our key committees.’’
To win the honor, an accountant must achieve the position of partner before age 36 and distinguish herself or himself within Dallas CPA Society and other professional organizations, Campbell said.
Martin has 16 years of experience in both public accounting and business management. Before joining Weaver and Tidwell, she was the corporate controller of a large public holding company of 11 public registrants and a shareholder at Ballard Griggs & Company. She is a member of various professional and civic organizations, including the Polaris Sarbanes-Oxley and Section 404 Task Force, Institute of Internal Auditors, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and Texas Music Association.
