
7/12/04 - Jeff Horton Joins Weaver and Tidwell as State and Local Tax Consultant
FORT WORTH, Texas – Jeff Horton has joined Weaver and Tidwell, LLP as a consultant in the firm’s newly created state and local tax (SALT) practice. With offices in Fort Worth and Dallas, Weaver and Tidwell is ranked the largest regional public accounting firm in the Southwest by Practical Accountant magazine.
SALT is a continuation of Weaver and Tidwell’s ongoing effort to provide clients broad services and personal attention, said Managing Partner and CEO W.M. “Mack’’ Lawhon. The SALT practice will focus primarily on state income and franchise taxes, sales and use taxes, property tax, nexus, audit management, and credits and incentives.
Horton, who holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Texas Tech University, has managed tax functions at multi-state corporations and is experienced in federal and state income tax, sales tax, planning, and audit management. Before joining Weaver and Tidwell, he was a consultant providing multi-state tax and tax audit services to such companies as Burlington Northern Santa Fe, Delta Air Lines, Crescent Real Estate, Lennox Industries, and Flowserve Corp.
Prior to becoming a consultant, Horton served as a tax manager for Hanson Industries’ Gifford-Hill and Beazer USA units; tax manager for Sunbelt Savings; and tax manager and income tax compliance manager for Integra, Hotel and Restaurant Co. He began his public accounting with Main Hurdman and also worked for Thomas, McBride & Associates.
