2/2/2006 - Weaver and Tidwell Names Dallas Executive Partner.
DALLAS-FORT WORTH, TEXAS – Weaver and Tidwell, L.L.P., the Southwest’s largest independent regional accounting firm, announces that it has named Alyssa G. Martin as Dallas Executive Partner. Martin, a partner who directs the firm’s Assurance and Risk Services practice, will assume the additional responsibilities of representing the firm in the Dallas-area business and civic community.

“Our Dallas office has now exceeded the size of the Fort Worth office, signaling the achievement of our goal to operate as a true North Texas firm, said W.M. “Mack” Lawhon, Weaver and Tidwell’s CEO and managing partner. “Designating a Dallas Executive Partner represents an additional commitment to the Dallas community and provides a focal point for our support and involvement in local organizations.”

Martin’s appointment follows the firm’s recent mergers with Brown & Nelson, P.C., a Dallas-based provider of litigation support and internal investigative services, and with Brehm & Company, L.L.P., a Dallas accounting firm serving the construction industry.

Weaver and Tidwell’s success in Dallas reflects its overall growth – for 2005 the firm ranked #68 among the country’s “Top 100 Largest Public Accounting Firms”, up from #81 the previous year. Net revenues were up 36 percent to $26.2 million making it one of the fastest growing “Top 100” firms as well as the only independent Texas-based firm to make Public Accounting Report’s list.

Martin has over18 years of experience in public accounting, including her role as partner over risk management, internal audit and IT audit services. She joined Weaver and Tidwell in 1998 as a result of its merger with Hoffman, McBryde & Co., P.C.

“As individuals, our Dallas office partners are involved in many civic endeavors,” said Martin. “As Dallas Executive Partner, I will ensure the firm itself will be an active participant in the community.”

Martin is a graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas with a B.S. in Business Administration/Accounting and a M.B.A. in Taxation. She is active in educational issues and the arts. Martin serves on the Board of Trustees of the Accounting Education Foundation of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA) and on the Partner in Education Committee of the Dallas Chapter of TSCPA. A frequent author on Sarbanes-Oxley and Section 404 topics, Martin is also a member of the editorial board of Today’s CPA magazine.
