10/04/2005 -With the Addition of Michael D. Misner as Assurance and Risk Service Senior Manager,
Weaver and Tidwell Expands Sarbanes-Oxley Practice, Is expanded to ‘Assurance and Risk Services’
DALLAS-FORT WORTH, TEXAS – Weaver and Tidwell announces the expansion of its Sarbanes-Oxley practice and the addition of Michael D. Misner, CPA, CFE, as Assurance and Risk Service Senior Manager. Misner’s arrival adds risk assessment and fraud prevention capabilities to the already robust practice which has been expanded and named ‘Assurance and Risk Services’ to better describe the scope of services available to clients.

Misner and the team of 21 professionals in this practice report to Weaver and Tidwell Partner Alyssa G. Martin, CPA, who remains at the helm of this practice as Partner, Assurance and Risk Services. Martin has led this practice since 2002.

In his new position, Misner will perform risk assessment and prevention services including developing risk assessments and conducting operational and financial internal audits. He will oversee detailed audit work, analyze audit evidence, and prepare high-level audit findings and recommendations of corrective actions.

“Mike has accumulated over 15 years of experience in a critical area of accounting services,” said W.M. “Mack” Lawhon, Weaver and Tidwell’s managing partner. “We are pleased to welcome him to Weaver and Tidwell and are confident in his ability to contribute to the assurance and risk practice within our firm.”

Misner has over 15 years of experience in financial and operational audit, including successful completion of SOX Section 404 management assessment, control risk assessments, audit scope development, data analysis, and reporting. Prior to joining Weaver and Tidwell, he served as director of audit services for Darling International, Inc., in Irving, Tex. He has also worked with The Traveller’s Group, Rollins, Inc., Texas Credit Union League, Resolution Trust Corp., and other prior public accounting experience.

Misner is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Fraud Examiner, and he holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Texas at Arlington.
