John E. McDonald named Houston executive partner as Southwest’s largest regional accounting firm enters Houston market
DALLAS-FORT WORTH, TEXAS (Dec. 22, 2006) – Weaver and Tidwell, L.L.P., the Southwest’s largest independent regional accounting firm, announces its merger with McDonald, Fox and Lund, P.C. effective Jan. 1, 2007.

Founded in 1975, Houston-based McDonald, Fox & Lund is a full-service accounting firm with a growing client base including privately held businesses, energy and construction companies and healthcare organizations.

“As a firm that serves businesses that have interests throughout Texas, we are very excited about this merger,” said W.M. “Mack” Lawhon, Weaver and Tidwell’s managing partner. “Having a presence in Houston has been a priority for us, and we foresee sustained growth in the area’s economy.”

John E. McDonald has been named Houston executive partner. All of the firm’s employees will join the combined firm which will use the Weaver and Tidwell, L.L.P., name.

The merged firm will remain in its current offices at 24 Greenway Plaza, Suite 1800 in Houston.

Founded in 1950, Weaver and Tidwell currently employs 190 accountants and consultants and approximately 235 employees. The firm represents a broad range of clients including large national and international corporations, publicly and privately held businesses, nonprofit organizations, and government entities.

In addition to the firm’s audit, accounting and tax services, its accountants and consultants practice in the areas of international services; risk advisory services; state and local tax; business valuation; estate planning/wealth transfer; information technology; forensic accounting; and property tax. It also performs peer reviews for other accounting firms.

To meet the growing needs of its clients in the areas of employee benefits and financial planning, the firm has two affiliate firms: Retirement Plan Concepts, and Weaver and Tidwell Financial Advisors, Ltd.

Weaver and Tidwell has been designated a “Best Place to Work” in Dallas-Fort Worth by the Dallas Business Journal and was recently awarded a “Momentum Award” by the Dallas Chamber of Commerce for growth.
