Southwest’s largest regional accounting firm expands its Houston market
Weaver and Tidwell, L.L.P., the Southwest’s largest independent regional accounting firm, announces its merger with Patterson, Newman & Associates, LLC (PNA) effective January 1, 2008.
Patterson, Newman & Associates, LLC was originally established in 1985 as Patterson and Associates. This Houston-based firm was formed by William Newman and James Patterson to conduct audit and consulting services for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), U.S. Customs, the State of Arizona and both public and private companies in the petroleum industry. Currently, PNA performs the attestation engagements required by the EPA, laboratory audits and regulatory compliance audits.
“As we expand our presence in Houston, this merger supports our growth strategy related to building our energy practice,” said John J. Mackel III, Weaver and Tidwell partner and director of energy services. “The experience we are acquiring with Patterson, Newman & Associates, LLC not only adds to Weaver and Tidwell’s capabilities to better serve our clients, but also allows us to expand this focus throughout the U.S.”
William Newman, CPA, MBA will be the partner in charge of the energy attestation practice of Weaver and Tidwell. Wade Watson, CPA, CFE will also join the firm as a partner and will assist Newman in managing the energy attestation practice. PNA’s Charles Flaniken will also join the combined firm as a consultant and contract employee.
